What to expect from a first counselling session

Your first counselling session does not need to be a polished account of everything that has happened to you. You can start with what feels most important, or simply with the fact that you are not sure where to begin.

At North Cove, our first session gives us time to explore what has brought you to therapy, what you need from it and what you hope might feel different. I will also explain how I work and talk through practical matters, including confidentiality and its limits, session arrangements and cancellation terms.

You are welcome to ask questions. We can take time to consider whether this feels like the right support for you and discuss how we might continue. There is no expectation to tell your whole story in one hour.

Counselling and psychotherapy sessions are 60 minutes and cost £65. They are available in person in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and online across the UK. Before arranging your first session, you can book a free 15-minute telephone consultation.
